Reminds me a bit of childhood ;-)
I meant the eating sugar cane part. Sugar cane used to be my favorite “fruit” as a little girl growing up in China. The grown-ups would make deep slits into a cane segment, and I’d use all the energy that I could muster to peel back the bamboo-like shell. Then, I’d greedily bite a chunk off, chew a bit and enjoy the sweet (literally!) reward of my hard work. This was the best treat on a hot summer day.
